Spend 3 nights of luxury in Southern Spain at the beautiful Kempinski Hotel and play 18 holes at the World-renowned Valderrama and 18 holes at Flamingos Golf Club. Club de Golf Valderrama is located in Andalucia, in the south of Spain.
Its world-renowned Championship Golf Course has a par of 71 and measures 6.356 metres, from its Professional tees. The immaculate fairways, notoriously difficult par 5s, super fast greens, everything about this course is stunning. The fairways have been described by top pros and leading golf writers as the best in Europe, if not the world.
The golf course was designed by Mr Robert Trent Jones Sr., the doyen of Golf Course Architects, in 1974, and during its early days it was firstly named Sotogrande New and then changed to Las Aves Golf Club in 1981.
Mr Jaime Ortiz Patiño purchased Las Aves Golf Club in 1984 - and with it some extra land, and at his request Mr Jones returned to re-design the course.
On 1st January 1985, Club de Golf Valderrama was founded, thus creating the first page in its illustrious history.
Thanks to Mr Ortiz Patiño's desire, determination and hard work, it took Valderrama only a few years to attain its position in the Golf World rankings as the Number 1 Golf Course in mainland Europe, a position that Valderrama has proudly held and maintained since 1989.
In 2009 Valderrama was voted number 1 course in continental Europe by Golf Monthly Magazine.
Valderrama is now in the top 50 golf courses in the world.
Valderrama's quality speaks for itself with the Golf Club having hosted the flagship tournament of the European Tour, the Volvo Masters from 1988 to 1996 and from 2002 to 2008.
This was followed in 1997 by the spectacularly exciting Ryder Cup Matches, won by Europe in an amazing atmosphere.
Then in 1999 and 2000, the finals of the World Golf Championships were hosted by Valderrama and were won by Tiger Woods and Mike Weir, respectively.
Robert Trent Jones Sr. designed a golf course that can be enjoyed equally by the handicap and scratch golfer.
Flamingos Golf Club is set in beautiful natural surroundings, on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea.
Its an 18-hole, 5.714 metre, par-71 course, designed by the prestigious course architect Antonio Garcia Garrido and is characterised by its carefully conserved landscaping, with a large variety of trees and beautiful views of the Mediterranean.
The greens are generously sized whilst its fairways are somewhat narrower on the front nine, where more precision playing is required than on the back nine. The bunkers are white marmolina sand. The fairways are sown with Bermuda, except on certain holes where grass has been used, whilst the greens and tees have been sown with Pencross.
Although quite new, Flamingos has already been used by the European Seniors Tour a number of times and its reputation is growing year on year.
